A Shaker-pattern peg rail in European ash, with turned pegs wedged through the rail rather than glued into a stopped hole — the joint that makes the difference between a rail that holds a winter coat and one that does not.
Two lengths: 24 inch with four pegs, 36 inch with six. Fixings for plaster and for stud are both in the box, and the rail is drilled and countersunk.

- Construction
- Pegs are through-tenoned and wedged from the back face — the wedge is visible if you take the rail off the wall and is what stops a peg pulling out under load. Rail is chamfered top and bottom, drilled and countersunk at 16in centres to land on studs.
- How it ages
- Ash stays much paler than oak and yellows slightly rather than honeying. The pegs wear shiny where things hang on them.

Height is the floor or surface to the highest point. Width and length are the widest points across and along. Anything round states a diameter instead. Tolerance is a quarter inch on a machined dimension and half an inch on anything turned or thrown.
Care
- Dust it. Re-oil every few years.
- Check the wall fixings after the first month.
Cautions
- Rated to 8kg per peg into a stud, 3kg into plasterboard with the supplied anchors.
- Not for a bathroom — ash moves more than oak with humidity.
- The supplied anchors are not suitable for lath and plaster or for tile.
