A waxed cotton tote with bridle leather handles, sized to stand up on its own with a shopping load in it or to live beside a fire holding kindling.
Waxed cotton marks. It creases where it folds and it goes pale along the crease, and within a month it will look like something you have owned for years. That is the material working; it is not a fault and it is not reversible.

- Construction
- Boxed base with a stiffener panel, French seams throughout so no raw edge is exposed inside. Handles are single-piece bridle leather, riveted through the body with solid brass rivets and a leather washer behind.
- How it ages
- Creases go pale within weeks and the whole bag darkens where it is handled. The wax migrates with warmth, which evens out blotches on its own. Re-wax every couple of years and it comes back; expect the leather handles to darken faster than the canvas.

Height is the floor or surface to the highest point. Width and length are the widest points across and along. Anything round states a diameter instead. Tolerance is a quarter inch on a machined dimension and half an inch on anything turned or thrown.
Care
- Brush off dirt when dry. Spot clean with cold water and nothing else.
- Re-wax with any cotton wax dressing when it stops shedding water.
- Store it open and dry, not folded flat.
Cautions
- NEVER machine wash or dry clean. Either one strips the wax permanently and the bag cannot be brought back.
- Not waterproof — it is water resistant, which is a different claim.
- The wax can transfer onto pale clothing in warm weather.
