A 16 inch round side table on three splayed legs, in solid white oak. Three legs rather than four because three never rock, on any floor, including an old one.
The top is a solid glued-up panel with a breadboard-free edge and a slight undercut, so from a seated height it reads thinner than it is.
The most expensive thing we make and the one that takes longest — the leg mortises are cut at a compound angle and there is no way to hurry that.

- Construction
- Three round tenons into compound-angled mortises, wedged from the top face — the wedges are visible in the top and are meant to be. Top is a four-board glue-up, alternating growth rings to keep it flat. Underside is finished to the same standard as the top.
- How it ages
- Expect the top to move a little across its width with the seasons — a solid timber panel that does not move has been made from something that is not solid timber. Rings and heat marks are possible; hard-wax oil resists water far better than it resists heat. It honeys like the rest of the oak.

Height is the floor or surface to the highest point. Width and length are the widest points across and along. Anything round states a diameter instead. Tolerance is a quarter inch on a machined dimension and half an inch on anything turned or thrown.
Care
- Coasters under anything hot or wet.
- Wipe with a damp cloth, dry after.
- Re-oil the top every year or two, the legs less often.
Cautions
- Not for outdoors, and not for a conservatory — swings in humidity are what split a solid top.
- A hot mug straight onto the oil will leave a pale ring. It can be oiled out, but it takes work.
- Rated to 25kg on the top, centred.
