A two-tread step stool in solid white oak, braced front and back so it does not rack when you stand on the top with your weight to one side — which is how people actually use a step stool.
Low enough to live in a kitchen without being put away, and it doubles as a plant stand or a seat at a pinch.

- Construction
- Housed treads in stopped dadoes, glued and screwed from inside the housing so no fixing shows on a face. Diagonal brace across the back. Treads are rough-sanded on the top surface only, for grip.
- How it ages
- Same honeying as the Lap Stool, faster on the treads where shoes and hands touch it. The top tread will scuff — that is what it is for, and the scuffs blend within a year.

Height is the floor or surface to the highest point. Width and length are the widest points across and along. Anything round states a diameter instead. Tolerance is a quarter inch on a machined dimension and half an inch on anything turned or thrown.
Care
- Wipe with a damp cloth.
- Re-oil the treads yearly, the frame every two.
- Check the brace screws once a year and nip them up if needed.
Cautions
- Rated to 140kg standing, centred on a tread.
- Not a ladder. Do not put it on a rug or a polished floor and climb it.
- Not for outdoors.
